Remember when...

Do you all recall when I mentioned back in May 2013 that we had purchased a house?  If you need your memory jogged, please refer to this post: May Mania.

Anyways…yes, we bought a fixer upper 2 whole years ago and we still aren't living in it.  Our family has doubled in size and we are still not living in it.  Our oldest child has been attending the school around the corner from it for 2 years and we are still not living in it.

But I'm not writing to complain about the ridiculousness of that situation. No.  I am writing to say that we have made some major progress.  Not that we were just sitting on our hands for the past two years.  We have been busily working on our plans until they were perfect.  The hope (perhaps unrealistic) is that they are so well thought out that the house will be built quickly and efficiently, lickity split.

I mean real progress people.  Turned out the fixer upper was a tear down and it has been torn down.  Hallelujah and praise the lord! Excavation starts in the next two weeks and the house should be framed out by the time we get back from Cape Cod in August!  If all goes well we'll be able to move in before the kids leave for college :)

Before...

During...

Towards the end…the digger was a BIG hit with the boys.

The original foundation, built in 1823.
